May is a travel time for many in Europe. Schools out and many families take to the air and road. An unplanned road trip took us through Switzerland, France and landed us to a natural park reserve in Southern Spain. Parque Natural Sierra de Irta.
The warmth in the air, the calm in the atmosphere, gracefulness in their movement, the hearing of the beautiful Latin root language exiting the tongue of many kind, friendly and beautiful beings around us, the aromatic smells of delicious Catalonian cuisine, the natural landscapes, beautiful beaches, the rich, reddish-orange tones of color on the earth…Serra de Irta and its offering of trails was and is a place to be experienced.
Multiple naturally, multi-colored mosaic stones, no doubt the original inspiration for one of Spain’s many decorative art forms, lie under each of our steps as we trailed on our course. The trail beauty in the rock forms, the flora and fauna of our surroundings seemed to welcome us, encroach on us with a nature loving hug as we continued on the trails incline. It is moments like this, unplanned, no expectations, just go….this spice of life adds to your very own individual flavor.
